Arcticae horulae

"How to present to the public my private, amateur collection of Germanisms which are used in spoken Slovene?
The collection itself was assembled during the last seven years with an amateur collector's enthusiasm. You know, at first this was a kind of collection known to almost everybody, be it a collection of badges, stamps, lighters or some more bizarre objects. The only adequate place for a public presentation of the collection seemed to be the National and University Library, the heart of the Slovene literary language, in which these Germanisms, if properly presented, would act as pure-bred excess. All the rest was more or less a question of considering the mode of presentation, which should not disturb the normal ambience and purpose of the selected premises. Special consideration had to be given to any aesthetical adjustment to Plečnik's hyper-precise interior, which seemed to dictate the use of hand embroidery and precious materials. It was fortunate that these aspects appeared to contravene, in the eyes of some, the fact that the flags featured the 'weeds' of the Slovene literary language."
